Vintage photograph, various vintage letters and ephemera, vintage glass bottles (the one on the right has Essence of Life embossed on it), dried rosebud, tiny vintage lead swan (chipped paint and missing one foot), rusted old doorplate, acetate transparency. Frame is old book pages, distressing inks, beeswax and oilpaint.
The back of the photo has the following inscription: "Clifford and Dorothy Perkin. Aged 2 and 4." The title comes from the handwritten note (behind the rose) which reads - "To make up for lost time. Yrs Very Sincerely. 2 - 8 - 14". I found it tucked into an old book.
This is calling to me ....I need to get back to creating some assemblages....very lovely work here. I love that you tucked that swan into the rusted door doorplate and the rose into the bottle...these bring your eye other areas in the assemblage.
I may have told you that I have been wanting to make some assemblage pieces for a long time... this has reawakened that want, if only I could make time for it! Everything flows and works very well together. Wonderfully done!
I would so love to see what you do with assemblage! You have such a great eye for composition that I'm curious to see that translate into 3D. I'm betting there will be birds ...
