My pride and joy - a 1940's haberdashery shop cabinet.

It is glass-fronted, with eighteen drawers for storage of collage pictures, papers, punches, glues, tapes, stamps ... I am in organiser's heaven!

I've put two cutting mats on the top, to work on, and have a barstool to perch myself on while I'm busy.

The angled folder thing at the near end is a scrapbooking layout plinth - magnetized and with a grid, so you can place collage elements in temporary arrangements using magnets, until you find a layout you like.

PS: The room is seldom this tidy!

Ok. Everyone has been commenting on its tidiness. I'd better post a picture of what it really looks like!

Sad to say, I am already running out of storage space and contemplating buying another cabinet! Collage artists are terrible hoarders ...

yes yes we are, I need to find a place to store all these shed snake skins. Would you hunt for something similar in style or what ever you can find?

Love it! I wish I could get mine that organized, even for one day just to take a picture! Alas I don't have enough shelving and with it being in a basement , not enough lighting either. I just need a grant to finish off my studio space, lol. I love your look, your nifty tidbits, and especially your vintage drawers. I think I'll go to my studio now and try to organize a bit :-?

Oh organisation is balm to the soul - whenever I'm feeling stressy or uninspired I tidy up my studio space. Invariably I discover some forgotten treasure that gets me going again.

Looks like a great space!
Though, that chair doesn't seem all that comfortable to me.
I think I'm just used to chairs with backs.
I draw, so I'd just end up slumping over in that chair and giving myself a backache.

I'm a terrible slumper too - generally I stand while I'm working on collage; the chair is for the occasional meditative perch as I drink tea and wonder how to salvage a collage that's just gone wrong.

Oooooh. Neat. I have a swanky old dewey decimal file. The drawers are great for pens and tools and things, but I need to find a better way to store paper scraps. I am lucky enough that it has two little pull out work surfaces, but my 12"x12" work mat has to live elsewhere when it's all shut up.
