Collaged Altered Book double page spread

I flipped the picture in Photoshop so that I could print out a mirror reflection. Mermaid tail is made out of hundreds (ok, an exaggeration - a lot) of individually cut out Japanese washi paper scales.

Water texture ripples made with kitchen wax paper; and squiggles of white wood glue, which dries translucent and - if you're lucky - with tiny bubbles in the lines.

This is one of the spreads in an entire altered book using only William Adolphe Bouguereau's 1875 painting After the Bath ~ see original at [link]

I have to say I am a big fan of your collage work and this is a perfect example as to why I am a fan of it.

Usually whe I think of sinking or swimming it seams that you have to swim in order to avoid your own demise. however sinking this way seems like it is simply another way of exploring, coming down for a quick look but able to go back to your own world. Swimming becomes more of a permanent adaptation (growing a tail!)
Interesting combination of 2 and 3D art new and old images.
the waves seem and effective way to integrate the images into the paper! Very nice image!

Loving the sink/swim dichotomy. The flipping thing looks tremendously cool.

EXTREMELY beautiful. I can't stop gazing. The depth you managed to get,
the whimsical, straying background, perfect blues,
the playful pattern of the mermaid tail...
Having it bleed off the page is the best!

LOVE it. :eager:
