Rule 2: "Carry a notebook everywhere"

Assemblage / shadow box in an old dominoes tin 10 x 18 cm

Base layers:
Paper, acrylic glazes, vintage watch face, multiple acetate transparencies, embedded in poured resin layers.

Front layers:
Vintage Moroccan leather and gilt notebook.
Figure on card with acetate transparency butterfly wings. Hand-tinted with copic markers.
Jump ring spectacles.
Pencils (with chewed ends!).
Filing bracket, mica sheet, brads.

I really love this. I thought it was digital at first, but when I read the description I found out it was an assemblage. Very nice job.

Assemblage is an interesting challenge - I find it much harder than 2D collage or, of course, digital (no "Undo" button!).

Takes awhile! Not only the multiple layers and waiting for the resin to set, but also hunting for the perfect objects and composition. I work on three simultaneously, and it takes a good few weeks before one is complete.
